anonymous user asked:Okay but who does do Mae Bubsy hair tho?
mae bubsy gets her hair done by a local lgbtq-friendly hair stylist she found on google maps. this stylist specializes in both curly hair and hair dying, both of which are important to her (her hair is naturally curly and dark brown; almost black until it catches the light). unfortunately, her dark hair makes it a pain to dye, so she dreads it... but having a gender-affirming stylist helps.

anonymous user asked:Whats your favorite thing in any bubsy game?
it's hard to pick just one! i like a lot of things in bubsy games. the whimsical fleischer-inspired worlds of bubsy 1, the many bespoke death animations prepared for the many ways bubsy can bite the dust, and of course bubsy himself.
but one thing i don't really see talked about is the art direction in bubsy 3d.
often hated, often called lazy, i personally adore the art direction of bubsy 3d. born out of necessity,1 the environments evoke the same feel as many early 3d renders. you know what i'm talking about. bright colors. flat geometric shapes floating in the air. simplistic water ripples and shiny reflections. and of course, checkerboard patterns everywhere. all taking place in a vast, empty void.
bubsy 3d isn't the only game to use this style. the first sonic the hedgehog was also inspired by this era of 3d. this is most obviously seen in the game's first level, green hill zone. take note of the checkerboard pattern and the sharp angles of the palm trees' leaves.
it's a style that i really enjoy, and i think bubsy 3d pulls it off really well.
- per michael berlyn, "I had no tools for drawing environments, [...] no way to relate polygon count to the kind of design I was visualizing [...]"

anonymous user asked:robot gears grinding in my skull, smoke billowing out of my ears as I try to think of the biggest ball of yarn possible (it’s pretty big)
dear reader,
i have thought of many, many yarn balls in my time. more than any single person ever should. but not once has smoke come billowing out of my noggin from the sheer computational power required in order to process the magnitude of its size. i would not have thought such a feat possible. but then i opened my inbox, and there it was. a seemingly impossible tale of immense imaginary yarn ball prowess. already, i was impressed. i could not possibly ever comprehend the size of this yarn ball!
and then, a second message came in.
anonymous user asked:okay, I thought of a bigger ball of yarn than the last ball of yarn, what about that one?
lo and behold, the anonymous visionary had sent me news of their latest accomplishment; somehow, against all odds, they had managed to think of a yarn ball even larger.
i cannot even begin to describe to you how absolutely incredible this is. if their previous triumph was impossible, then what to call this?? inconceivable? unfathomable? fantastical? surely its magnitude exceeds that of the known universe!
i can only dream of one day being able to visualize a yarn ball a mere fraction of a fraction of a fraction the size of yours, o maestro of the yarn!

anonymous user asked:u gae bubsy /paws
mae. gae. two sides of the same coin. many scholars have dedicated their entire academic careers to studying the duality of mae-gae. some, such as dr. mae bubsy, consider it a way of life:

something of an addendum to my blog about bubsy 3...
in an interview for gamasutra in 2005, michael berlyn (creator of bubsy) said that he had pitched bubsy 4 to sony. sony said:
and so they agreed to make syphon filter. alright then.
that’s not the end of this, though. ten years later, in an interview for retrovolve, berlyn said at that time he was working on two different pitches; one for a game called sparky and bolt apparently being pretty far along. he mentioned pitching sparky to sega, who rejected it for not being edgy enough. he also pitched it to accolade:
so depending on when you asked him, bubsy 4 either totally existed and he even pitched it, or it never existed at all and he didn’t even want to consider it. he recently passed away (rest in peace), so i suppose we’ll never really know!
- this furry animal product being crash bandicoot, of course.
- berlyn was not involved in the creation of bubsy 2, and he hated the game, saying that it "just about killed the franchise."

the thing that sucks about likes and shares is that you know when someone likes your post but doesn't share it, it means it wasn't good enough. especially if they share a lot of art

i love this.
it's like my own little slice of cohost. it almost makes it hurt a little less.
still undecided on whether i want to post microblog updates to the rss feed. it could end up being annoying to some, but... hmm. we'll see.

welcome to the bit!
this is where i'll be posting my stray thoughts. stuff that's too small for a blog post, but it's still worth sharing. or maybe it's not worth sharing and i just want to! nyahahahaha.
